PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Jinks wasted little time getting back into the win column Tuesday night, jumping out to a 20-0 lead through its first three offensive possessions before rolling to a 33-12 victory over Surfside on the road. After being held to just 65 total yards in last week's defensive battle against Rutherford, the Hornets offense came out firing against Surfside. Jinks piled up 437 total yards, including 253 on the ground and 184 through the air, while finding the end zone five times. Quarterback Javion Thomas led the way through the air, completing 6 of 8 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas also added a 50-yard rushing touchdown, finishing the night with 179 total yards and three touchdowns. Running back Khamari Boles provided the other major spark, breaking loose for 155 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries. Boles also hauled in a 68-yard touchdown reception, giving him 223 total yards and three touchdowns on the night. The Hornets' passing attack also received contributions from Jackson King, who caught two passes for 50 yards, while Aydann Copeland added three receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown. R.J. West contributed six carries for 34 yards as Jinks continued to spread the ball around offensively. With the Hornets holding a commanding 20-0 advantage after their first three drives, Jinks began rotating players and giving younger Hornets valuable game experience. Surfside was able to find the end zone twice late, but the outcome was never seriously in doubt. The win gives Jinks a much-needed response following last week's 12-0 loss to Rutherford and moves the Hornets back into the win column. After a difficult Week 3 battle, Jinks showed Tuesday night that the offense can still produce explosive plays while the defense continues to set the tone. The Hornets will now turn their attention to the next challenge as the season moves into its second half.
